Depthfinder has been acquired by the Museo d'Arte della Città di Ravenna (MAR). It's the first mosaic by an American to be included in the MAR's permanent collection of contemporary mosaic art. It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the presentation in the redesigned galleries for contemporary mosaic at the MAR, 6pm on October 12th in conjunction with Notte d’Oro, the opening of RavennaMosaico International Mosaic Festival in Ravenna, Italy.

I create mosaic in response to the diversity and complexity of our world, attempting to create serenity and calmness from tension and chaos. Elemental materials form new relationships with the addition of every tessera, creating landscapes both familiar and unreal. Does Depthfinder explore new worlds in deep space or an ocean abyss where floating organisms populate the dark sea floor, catching bits of reflected light?  I hope viewers look at the world around them with different eyes after seeing my work.

Depthfinder takes a wide variety of materials into the third dimension, draping light and shadow, matte and shiny, smooth and irregular tesserae over an undulating, hand-formed substrate.
